In the town of L'Escala, a few km from Sant Martí d'Empúries, where the first Greeks arrived from the Iberian Peninsula, is the Can Panxo building, in the old town. At the beginning of the 20th century it was a tavern where food and wine were served to fishermen to restore their strength after a day of hard work at sea.
